You Don't Need to Leave Your CRM to Use Backbone Anymore
A new mandate lands in your CRM: a three-bedroom flat in Hamburg. By default, booking the photoshoot for it means leaving that CRM for Backbone, retyping the property details into our order form, then downloading everything once it arrives and uploading it somewhere else. With the Public API, none of that happens, the shoot gets booked without ever leaving the CRM.

Do I have to switch away from the Backbone platform to use the API?
No. The platform and the Public API run on the same engine. Using one doesn't require giving up the other, and plenty of teams will keep using both for different purposes.
Does this replace manual order tracking?
Yes, for teams that connect the notification feature. Instead of checking status manually or acting on an email, your system receives the update directly.
Does the API also manage who has access on our side?
Yes. User creation and removal can sync directly from your CRM, so your team's access to Backbone always matches who's actually on your team, without a second list to maintain manually.
Do I need a developer to use this?
Setting it up does require a developer or technical partner on your side, the same way any CRM integration does. See our developer documentation for the setup steps.
Do I need a specific Backbone plan to use this?
Yes. The Public API is available on Pro and Enterprise plans. If you're not sure what your account includes, your Backbone contact can confirm.
